Wait, wait, WAIT! I've got an explanation! When ~Nububu requested "GhVi randomness" for her HEAW prize, I decided to go with a little story concept that had been brewing in my head for a few days. In a nutshell, Gohan finds his way into the afterlife -- possibly with the help of Dende, who can escort him to the other side -- in order to find Goku. Since he doesn't know Instant Transmission, he has to take the long route to King Kai's planet by running down Snake Way. He stops at Princess Snake's palace thinking that it might be King Kai's and ends up in a...predicament.
Videl, meanwhile, has been dead for about a year after saving a little girl from a house fire (or something heroic like that). In honor of her good deed, the gods allowed her to keep her body and sent her to Princess Snake as a handmaiden. Videl wants nothing more than to escape that terrible place and get on with her afterlife, but leaving isn't so easy...
When Gohan -- who is clearly very pliable when confronted by attractive women -- shows up, she sees her chance to escape! Soon after this scene, she'll cause a distraction that forces Princess Snake to investigate and then rescues Gohan from her clutches. In return for helping him escape the palace, Videl forces him to promise that he'll take her with him. With that agreement in place, they make a run for it...

Btw, here's what's going on in the scene:
Princess Snake: Your father and I are old friends, you know.
Gohan: Y-Yeah?
Princess Snake: Mmm...we met a few years ago. He said he was on his way to train with King Kai but kindly stopped to pay me a visit.
Gohan: ...
Princess Snake: You know, your mother is a very lucky woman. Such a handsome husband, and a strapping young son...I'm so envious.
Gohan: /////
Videl: *whispering to another servant* Why does she always play with her food? It's so childish...
