Done in permanent marker (fine and ultrafine point).
For: ME! Sometimes you just gotta do something for yourself ^^

As some of you probably already know (*cough**Moony92*cough*), I love, love, LOVE superheroes! Batman happens to be my particular favorite in American comics, but I still have a great affection for Gohan and Videl as Saiyamen #s 1 and 2. However, that said, I always thought it was a little OOC for Videl to go along with the silly costume thing with her beloved boy toy and have always wanted to design her a costume more in lieu with the American superhero tradition (let's face it, Saiyaman is a spoof, not a serious replication).

The basic plot that goes along with this revamp of SaiyaGirl is this:

Instead of Videl blackmailing "Saiyaman" into the tournament and the Buu Saga taking place, Gohan is forced to leave Earth in order to take care of another evil with the majority of the Z Fighters (kinda like The Odyssey, the Z Fighters get lured away to fight elsewhere). This, of course, leaves Satan City without Saiyaman and, when something truly disastrous happens (probably as a result of the Z Warriors being lured away from Earth, but also having to do with the legend of Orange Star City [ie, Satan City pre-Cell Games]), Videl realizes just how much the city needs its superhero.

Since she already suspected him of being Saiyaman's alterego, Videl goes to the Son house to find out how/why Gohan has disappeared. ChiChi, understandably suspicious of the girl's motives, won't say anything other than "he's not here" and slams the door in her face. Goten, who wasn't allowed to go with Gohan et al under the premise that he'd "get in the way" (Trunks had to stay behind, too), feels differently and catches up with Videl before she leaves and gives her Gohan's spare Saiyaman watch (which he had made in case something ever happened to his other one). He also promises to help whenever she needs him, even though she doesn't take his offer seriously (later, after Trunks teaches him to fly, he becomes her little sidekick).

She takes the watch home and figures out how to work it, but quickly realizes that Gohan's costume doesn't fit (duh). Thus, she goes to Erasa for help and...Ta-daa! This design is what she comes up with (more-or-less; the design evolves a bit over the years as her needs change). Videl was initially horrified at the thought of wearing so much spandex, but Erasa reasoned correctly that people would be less likely to suspect her of being SaiyaGirl if she showed her body a bit in the costume. Besides, it allows for more free range of movement and it's cute (ha ha...).

Fast forward into the future a bit...Videl is 25 years old and Gohan et al still haven't returned to Earth (they get caught up in their mission to save another planet/dimension and the Evil Powers that Be [EPB] do their best to keep them away from Earth as long as possible). She's a full time superhero after an "accident" on the job while she was a cop that "forced" her to retire early (actually, she realized that too many people would suspect her of being SaiyaGirl and decided to blow a minor injury out of proportion before donning the cape in order to prevent anyone from guessing her identity. In public as Videl, she walks with a noticeable limp, occasionally appearing in a wheelchair).

She, at first, makes/buys a few basic tools/gadgets (ala Batman and Batgirl) for her utility belt herself, but later gets a few secret donations from Bulma as trouble mounts (more on that later). Later, she learns to use chi and begins to develop new ways of using it (ie, she can make ropes and rings for binding, erects shields and body armor, can use it to move things, etc). She learns how to use her energy in clever and conservative ways since she obviously lacks the raw power of the rest of the Z Fighters (she eventually says to Vegeta, "There's more to chi manipulation than blowing shit up, you know.")

Erasa, her cohort in superheriosim, continues to update her costume, all the while maintaining her public image as a super popular designer. Goten, of course, plays sidekick whenever he gets some free time from his studies and helps Videl eradicate the threat that's still blossoming within the city (he also teaches Videl how to fly, with a little help from Trunks. They're also the ones that teach her how to use chi beams, but she evolves her powers herself, with just a touch of guidance from Master Roshi early on).

Then, suddenly, Gohan and the other Z warriors return to Earth...

I'll probably never write this story, but I think it sounds like fun. Plus, it gives me an excuse to draw SaiyaGirl again one day :XD: (Which I totally will, just watch me!)

Oh, yeah. I used references for once; see DC Comics Superman/Batman: Supergirl by Jeph Loeb, Michael Turner and Peter Steigerwald.
